This fund consists of $10,000 which is divided into five (5) equal scholarships of $2,000.

The scholarships are determined by a Scholarship Committee consisting of five (5) members of the local community. A family member of a student that is applying for the scholarship may not serve on the Scholarship Board or Committee.

The Directors of the Firemen’s 5k will present the essays and qualifying criteria to the committee for selection minus the applicant’s name in an effort to insure a fair and equal selection process.

Scholarships are awarded to the student but paid directly to the student’s university, junior college or trade school in $1,000.00 increments per semester.

The scholarship will be honored for nine months after graduation. If the scholarship monies are not used in the allotted nine months, the monies will be placed back into the scholarship fund.

The President of The Firemen’s 5k will notify the recipients of the scholarship award.

The applying student must be a graduating senior of Castleberry High School, a graduating senior and child of a Fort Worth firefighter or a River Oaks firefighter, or a college freshman, sophomore, junior or senior and a Castleberry High School graduate, a child of a Fort Worth firefighter or a River Oaks firefighter.

The applying student must be a graduating high school senior or a college freshman, sophomore, junior or senior in the year they apply.

The applying student cannot be found in violation of standards of conduct and the student’s conduct must be acceptable as set forth by the School District/College the student attends.

Completed application packages must be delivered to the Firemen’s 5k foundation (or postmarked) no later than 5:00 pm on May 8, 2023.
